New board members elected; ex officio members appointed
The members of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) have elected four board members and the board has appointed three ex officio members. APPE is an interdisciplinary, international organization dedicated to advancing scholarship, education, and practice in practical and professional ethics. APPE works to improve ethical conduct in communities and workplaces, supports and develops the next generation of ethics faculty and professionals, and advances public dialogue in ethics and values.
APPE members re-elected the following candidate to a second term:
- Dr. Alex Richardson, Associate Director for Content Strategy and Engagement, The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University
APPE members elected the following candidates to a first term:
- Dr. Matthew Altman, Chair and Professor of Philosophy, Central Washington University
- Dr. Liza Dawson, Chief of Bioethics, IRB chair, and Research Integrity Officer; Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR)
- Jessica McManus Warnell, MA, Teaching Professor, Department of Management & Organization; Rex & Alice A. Martin Faculty Director; Notre Dame Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership Managing Director, Human-centered Analytics Lab; Mendoza College of Business; University of Notre Dame
Board members serve four-year terms.
The APPE board appointed the following candidates to serve as ex officio members of the board:
- Michael Blake, PhD student, Saint Louis University
- Dr. Alison Kerr, Director of Futures, Colorado School of Mines
- Dr. Christopher Meyers, Professor Emeritus, California State University, Bakersfield, Hospital Ethicist
Ex officio members are appointed to the board for two-year terms and provide additional perspectives and expertise. This year's slate includes a graduate student and new APPE member, an early career professional, and a former board member and longtime APPE member.
